Sparrowhawk c. 1990 was probably one of the last paintings of Isabel Rawsthorne. I was inspired by the BBC Documentary on her life and works. Carol Jacobi curator describes in the video how much she was interested in the language of gesture and movement. In the video I could see how she uses thick paint and many layers of paint on her paintings. This makes them very different on a photograph or on a screen compared to real life. There are names on this painting that she wrote which were probably names of people she liked in her life. I was inspired by her life how she did not repeat a "successful" formula but had moved on to something else always in her artworks.
