I was looking at one of my earlier paintings, and thinking about what I would do differently if I painted a racing sailing theme again. I definitely like the atmosphere of racing on the water. When my father was still alive we would go together look at the waves, see where the wind was coming from and choose the destination we wanted to go to. Then talk about the angles we need to take to get there and approximately how long it would take to get there if the wind was blowing at the same strength. Sailing is a great metaphor of choosing a destination where you want to go to and arriving there no matter where the wind blows from. You just need the wind.
